About the Redevelopment Commission

 The New Bern Redevelopment Commission was incorporated effective May 15, 2018 and shall have the powers of a redevelopment commission as set forth in Article 22 of Chapter 160A  "Urban Redevelopment Law" of the North Carolina General Statutes.  

The New Bern Redevelopment Commission consist of nine members, all of whom shall be residents of the City of New Bern. Members of the New Bern Redevelopment Commission shall serve staggered terms with each term being five years. For the initial Redevelopment Commission, two members shall have an initial term of five years, two shall have an initial term of four years, two members shall have an initial term of three years, two members shall have an initial term of two years, and one member shall have an initial term of one year. A member shall hold office until their successor has been appointed and qualified. Meetings are held the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Development Services Conference Room, 303 First Street, unless relocated, canceled or rescheduled.

Five members constitute a quorum and a majority of the members present may take action on any matter under consideration. Special meetings may be called by the chairperson with 48 hours notice.
