The New Bern Police Department has an Animal Control Unit that responds to calls for service throughout the City of New Bern. If you wish to file an animal complaint, please call (252)633-2020 to speak with the Animal Control Officer and/or a Law Enforcement Officer. Or, send them an email by clicking this link. Revision to Animal Control Ordinance:
Section 6- 2. Definitions.
Unless otherwise specifically provided, or unless clearly required by the context, the words and phrases defined in this ordinance shall have the meaning indicated below:
16) Tethering means tying out or fastening a dog outdoors on a rope, chain or other type of line for holding a dog. This shall not include tying out or fastening a dog outdoors on an attended leash.
