The Criminal Investigations Unit is a specialized unit within the New Bern Police Department that is responsible for criminal investigations that are time-consuming, require specialized expertise or are of a serious nature. This unit consists of a Sergeant and several detectives which are cross-trained in a secondary specialty area and will be assigned to, but limited to, the following types of cases:
