Employment Requirements
Every employment candidate, both police officer and civilian, will be subject to the following:- Initial Interview: Interviewed by the Chief of Police and/or his designee
- Background Check: Must satisfactorily pass a thorough background investigation
- Psychological Evaluation: Must satisfactorily pass a psychological evaluation
- Physical Examination: Must satisfactorily pass a physical examination
- Drug Screening: Must take a screening test for drugs
- Truth Verification: Must pass a Computerized Voice Stress Analysis Test
Employment Eligibility
- Minimum 20 years of age (Police Officer Applicants Only)

Must be a high school graduate or have a GED (certain positions may require a higher education level)

Must be a United States citizen

Must have no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions

Completion of Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Course in North Carolina (Police Officer Applicants Only)

Civilian (Non-Sworn)
Police Service Technician (PST) is a civilian position and encompasses a variety of fields to include the following:
