The New Bern Police Department seeks to advance transparency by providing our community with access to our authorized police policies. The New Bern Police Department is internationally accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). Our written directive systems conform with international best practices as dictated by accreditation standards. The New Bern Police Department further evaluates our policies annually to ensure that we comply with all new statutory legislation, changes to case law and, most importantly, to ensure we are meeting the needs of our community.
