Coastal Storm Info

NWS RainfallCOASTAL STORM UPDATE: the City of New Bern is monitoring this coastal nor'easter very closely. Conditions will last through the weekend and will bring about 2-3" of rain to our area and strong wind gusts that will push water up the Pamlico Sound and into the Neuse & Trent rivers. The duration of the wind will mean some flooding along the riverfront and in other low-lying areas. If you are driving and encounter a flooded road, turn around don't drown! Stay tuned to local forecasts for the latest information on changing weather conditions.

We have first response crews on call for the weekend, ready to respond if necessary. This includes public works crews, law enforcement, fire, and public utilities. If you lose power, use this link to access our easy, online power outage reporting tool or call us at 636-4070. The Utility Control office is staffed 24-7.

Above all, stay safe this weekend. Should road closures or emergencies occur with this storm, we will post that information to our social media platforms and our website.
